A specially organized theatre troupe left here yesterday for Biro-Bidjan, where it will give Yiddish performances for the Jewish population. It will make its permanent home there.
The group consists of twenty-four actors and actresses, has a small orchestra of its own and is equipped with all the necessary properties. Eleven of the actors were recruited from the ranks of the students who completed courses at the Yiddish theatre-technicum here a year ago, when the troupe was organized.
Efraim Loiter, director of the company, has supervised it in the acquisition of the following repertoire: “My Friend,” by the Russian dramatist Liev Slavin (translated by the poet Kushnirov); a program of selections from Sholem Aleichem and a revue bill.
