In a statement to the House of Commons today, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, British Secretary of State for Colonies, declared that he had received a telegram from High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope stating that nineteen are dead as a result of the cloudburst at Tiberias and that an unknown number are missing. Sir Arthur also stated that a large number are homeless and that effective relief measures have been taken by the Palestine government.

Sir Philip declared that he had telegraphed the High Commissioner to convey his deepest sympathy to the mayor and people of Tiberias.
