The sad thing about the West End Casino at West End, N.J., is that you’ve got to go there! I may rave for half a page and you’ll not get the point, which is that this hotel is different. You’ve got to see the Casino itself… to dip in the surf or swim in either of the twin salt water pools. You’ve got to bask ‘neath the sun on an expansive, immaculate beach or hide in the shade of a huge umbrella, exhilarated by invigorating ocean breezes. You’ve got to dance to the soft strains of Phil Harris’ orchestra on the deck or in the ball room ‘mid tropical palms and flowers. In short, you’ve got to go there to find out that nothing has been overlooked to assure you a pleasant vacation at this most exclusive watering place.

Charles and Emile at 47 East Forty-sixth street, opposite the Hotel Roosevelt, is where to go when you’re bored to death with yourself. They make your hair over and they do it, what’s more, so it really stays made over. No wonder, then, that people are flocking there. Emile is a godsend. He studies faces, interprets personalities and creates entirely new and personalized coiffures. You’ll adore the Realistic Self-Setting Permanent Wave, a flat natural one, which, believe it or not, is really self-setting, and will look the same three months later as it did the day it was done. Hair dyeing and facial massage are a specialty. Prices are moderate.

At 655 Fifth avenue we love to settle into one of Miss Quinlan’s deep chairs and look at beauty preparations, although it disappoints us to miss seeing the lady herself. We frequently have to miss her, though, because she’s got a way of racing hither and yon in quest of newer and more amazing beauty preparations. Yesterday we watched a young lady who likes to stay out of the sun acquire a smooth, luscious coat of tan in the space of four short minutes by simply applying the new Gitano Tan. This lotion is fragrant and waterproof and can be quickly and evenly applied without a bit of effort. It is really beneficial to the skin. Gitano Tan is stunning with one of Miss Quinlan’s new summer shades of powder. It gives a warm, creamy, exotic tone.

In answer to Altman’s letter we hurried over there to see the new Celanese Corner on the fourth floor, opened in response to a growing demand for man-made materials. A graceful and colorful display presents Celanese by the yard in all its beautiful varieties of design and texture. We immediately conjured up a magnificent vision of Celanese for new spring curtains, a grand novelty allied with economy.
