A revision in the restrictive rules applying to deposits made by prospective tourists to Palestine has been obtained through protests by the Zionist Organization of America, it was revealed Friday following receipt of a letter by Morris Ruthnberg, Zionist president, from Captain h. B. Taylor, of the British Passport Control Office, which is attached to the British Consulate in New York City.
The inadvisability of maintaining the recently-established rule requiring prospective tourists to deposit sixty pound as a guarantee against remaining in Palestine was admitted, the Passport Control office notified Mr. Rothenberg, and henceforth it will be left to the discretion of the consulate to determine whether a deposit should be made.
The change, it is expected, will affect hundreds of prospective tourists whose plans for visiting Palestine will be eased.
