It was learned here that Rosenblatt is planning to go abroad in the near future.

STAVSKY COMMITTEE SEEKS FUNDS FOR STRUGGLE

A statement urging a nationwide organization of committees to facilitate fund-raising on behalf of Abraham Stavsky, condemned to hang for the murder of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, has been issued by the Stavsky Non-Partisan Committee, signed by Jacob de Haas, Professigned by Jacob de Haas, Professor Chaim Tchernowitz and Rabbi Louis I. Newman.

Mr. Haas, in a personal statement, sounds a plea to avoid “a struggle within Israel at this juncture.” Financing the defense is the most urgent need at present. his statement emphasizes.

The committee’s appeal follows in full:

“The officers of the Stavsky Non-Partisan Defense Committee having reviewed the verdict rendered by a majority of the Jerusalem court, have decided to continue to cooperate with Rabbi Kook in raising the means necessary to provide adequately for the appeal to which the defendant is entitled. The Committee feels that every fair minded person will agree that Stavsky is entitled to every facility that the law provides to clear himself of a charge of which he protests his innocence, the more so that the case against his presumed co-conspirators has been dismissed.

“In order to strengthen the Non-Partisan Committee, and to facilitate the raising of funds a conference is planned for New York City. The Committee at the same time urges on the tens of thousands of Jews outside-of New York who are keenly interested in the case to establish local committees for the purpose of raising funds which we shall be glad to transmit to Jerusalem.”

The statement from Mr. Haas reads: “As the senior in the service of political Zionism, and as one who has never hesitated to discuss publicly problems affecting the Jewish people, I cannot well be accused of adopting a sha-sha policy if I earnestly plead with those who are naturally wrought up by the decision in the Stavsky case to avoid that spilling of hot blood which can easily follow from the emotions and excitement aroused by protest meetings demonstrations, and other forms of dramatization. “Unfortunately ample provocation is consciously and unconsciously being provided for an out burst of emotion, and there are not wanting those who are willing to fan a flame that may lead to physical strife and bloodshed in Palestine. Nothing will serve the

Emies of Israel better than a struggle within Israel at this juncture: nothing will serve Israel better than that justice shall prevail The occasion is one that demands action not words, and the action however trifling the contribution is to help finance the Stavsky defense.
