Nazi Steamship Lines Threaten to Exclude Jewish Reporters

That the Jewish press of New York, including the Jewish Daily Bulletin, is proving a barbed hook in the ribs of German steamship lines was revealed Saturday afternoon to three of its representatives through the medium of the press agent for the North German Lloyd and the Hamburg-American lines.

The three Jewish reporters, while on board the revenue cutter Raritan en route with about forty reporters and photographers to greet Dr. Ernst F. S. Hanfstaengl on the Europa, were buttonholed by Louis Weickum, the steamship companies’ press representative.

Mr. Weickum then informed the reporters that “because of the untruths appearing in the Jewish press” executives of the steamship companies he represented were seriously discussing the advisability of barring its reporters from German steamers in the future.
