Members of the Heimwehr, reputed to be the chief supporters of Chancellor Dollfuss, were severely beaten by soldiers, who tore down photographs of Prince Ernst von Starhemberg, vice-chancellor. A few bystanders who witnessed the clash shouted “Heil Hitler.”
