Bombs Strike Austrian Terror

Heimwehr (home guard). Many Nazi and Socialist hostages were jailed under suspicion of having thrown the bombs.

Members of the Heimwehr, reputed to be the chief supporters of Chancellor Dollfuss, were severely beaten by soldiers, who tore down photographs of Prince Ernst von Starhemberg, vice-chancellor. A few bystanders who witnessed the clash shouted “Heil Hitler.”
