A stunning blow was dealt twenty-nine Jewish dentists today when they were dismissed from the services of the Lodz Sick Benefit Societies.
Their discharge marked another victory for anti-Semitic forces in Poland. A large portion of the population receives its medical and dental advice from the men employed by the sick benefit societies, which furnish these services in return for premiums paid in the form of insurance. Recently many members of the healing professions have come to depend largely upon this employment as a solution of their economic problems.
Today’s wholesale dismissals created widespread anxiety in Jewish medical circles, which heard authoritative reports that there will be further reductions of a much more drastic nature throughout the country.
