While Jews in many nations were falling prey to Fascist anti-Semitic assaults, one Jew’s memory was honored by Italian Fascism today.
A monument was unveiled in Settignano, near Florence, in tribute to the young Jewish student, Gino Bolaffi, who died in 1920 fighting for the cause of Fascism.
The unveiling was accompanied by the supreme Fascist ceremonial. There were also Jewish religious rites, with a cantor and leading members of the Jewish community participating.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
