Bernardo Weisman, sixty-one, actor and founder of the Yiddish theatre in this city, died here after a long illness.
Weisman was born in Bucharest. His parents were orthodox Jews and the boy was for some time an assistant to various cantors. When he became an actor Weisman toured Rumania, Turkey, Egypt and other countries with Morris Moscovitch, Fineman and other well known showmen.
In 1901 Weisman came to the Argentine and immediately set about organizing a theatre troupe. Most of the actors were amateurs. Later Weisman succeeded in interesting a number of wealthy persons in his work and these aided him in bringing accomplished players here.
For twenty-eight years Weisman served the Jewish theatre as actor and director.
