More than 600 Jewish young men and women, mainly from the Wilno district, today received permission from the Soviet government to proceed as settlers to Biro-Bidjan, Jewish autonomous unit in Siberia. The group will go to Biro-Bidjan in August.
The desperate poverty among the Jews of Poland has led to an increase in the number of Polish Jewish settlers anxious to go to Biro-Bidjan.
