600 Polish Jews Go to Biro-bidjan

Download PDF for this date

More than 600 Jewish young men and women, mainly from the Wilno district, today received permission from the Soviet government to proceed as settlers to Biro-Bidjan, Jewish autonomous unit in Siberia. The group will go to Biro-Bidjan in August.

The desperate poverty among the Jews of Poland has led to an increase in the number of Polish Jewish settlers anxious to go to Biro-Bidjan.
