Secret police last night interrupted the Berlin memorial meeting for Chaim Nachman Bialik, which was held in the Lodgenhouse, and threatened to dissolve the meeting because one of the speakers declared his intention of speaking in Hebrew. However, the meeting was allowed to continue in German and passed off peacefully.
Ernst Simon of Haifa, Palestine, one of the speakers, began by saying that he would address the audience “in Bialik’s own language.” A secret policeman in the audience thereupon jumped to his feet and declared that he was compelled to dissolve the meeting. When he was assured that only German would be spoken the meeting was allowed to continue.
