Funeral services for Lee Wormser, 50, Chicago attorney who was killed in an automobile accident near Reed City, Mich., Thursday, were held today in the chapel at 936 East Forty-seventh street.
The body of Mr. Wormser was brought back to Chicago Friday by his daughter Elaine, 22, who was driving the car at the time of the accident. In attempting to avoid hitting another car, her automobile overturned. She and her father were bound for Charlevoix, Mich., to visit Mr. Wormser’s mother.
Burial took place at Mount Mayriv Cemetery.
Mr. Wormser, former attorney for the late Julius Rosenwald, was director and counsel to the Jewish Charities of Chicago. In a statement to the Jewish Daily Bulletin Samuel A. Goldsmith, executive director of the Jewish Charities, declared yesterday that “the sudden and swift hand of blind accident has swept from us a genuinely strong and noble person. Gifted with a fine mind and a generous spirit, possessing a genius for friendship, he was easily one of the outstanding personalities of the Jewish Community of Chicago.”
The deceased leaves a widow, the former Miss Helen E. Goldsmith of Chicago, and a daughter, Elaine.
