The board of governors of Hebrew University opened its meeting here today with a discussion of the report recently submitted by Sir Philip Joseph Hartog, noted Anglo-Jewish educator, who investigated the administration of the university. Chancellor Judah L. Magnes submitted a counter-report.
The meeting of the board of governors is a continuation of the conference held in New York by American board members, who met May 12. Dr. Magnes came to the United States for the conference.
American members of the board of governors are Dr. Cyrus Adler, Dr. Emanuel Libman, Dr. Nathan Ratnoff, Charles Rosenbloom and Rabbi Stephen S. Wise.
Sir Philip, Professor Louis Ginsberg and Professor Redcliffe Salaman were appointed last November to survey the actual position of the Hebrew University and to formulate plans for its future development.
The commission, it was learned, was appointed as result of an understanding with Professor Albert Einstein, who was reported to have been dissatisfied with the present structure of the university.
