Nine hundred Jewish veterans of the war for Latvia’s independence will receive grants of $500 each from the government, it was announced.

According to a recent law each veteran of the war is entitled to a plot of land at government expense. Since the government did not have sufficient lands available for this purpose, it has set aside $450,000 for cash, instead of land grants.
