The Investors’ Chronicle and Money Market Review of London reports economic progress in Palestine.

The annual report of the Anglo-Palestine Bank, showing accounts totaling £4,563,000, just double the preceding year, is cited as an indication of the prosperity the Holy Land is experiencing.

“A substantial expansion also took place in the circulation of notes and coin issued by the Palestine Currency Board,” the Chronicle states, “the amount rising from £2,822,000 to £4,070,000 in a year.

“Immigration returns showed an influx into the country last year of 32,000 persons, against 11,000 in 1932, and of this number 3,267, against only 754, were ‘capitalist immigrants’ — namely, those in possession of £1,000 or more.

“There was expended upon the erection of buildings, public and private, last year £5,601,000 as compared with £2,946,000 in 1932. The value of goods imported was £11,123,000 compared with £7,769,000 in 1932.”
