A demonstration of the loyalty of Saar-born Germans now living in the United States will be held at the St. Nicholas Palace, 60 West Sixty-sixth street, on October 28, according to an announcement by the League of Saarlanders.
In connection with the demonstration the League issued a statement painting the lot of the German under the League of Nations Saar Commission as most deplorable and unjust.
“No,” the statement contends, “the Saar territory has never been a paradise under the League of Nations government. It was, indeed, a right welcome haven for certain elements for whom the New Germany could no longer serve as a field of activity. Whether they were welcome to the Saar nation was not inquired into. This group, most of whom are not even entitled to vote in the plebiscite, now are the agitators. Since they are affectionately supported in certain circles, one hears them swinging great speeches in certain newspapers. But all this is mere deception. In reality the people of the Saar stand behind the New Germany and its leader. The great Saar demonstrations prove this again and again.
