Complaints against absence of Jewish officials in administration of the mandate territory of Syria, as well as the non-representation of the Jewish population in the Advisory Council were submitted to the French High Commissioner, General Weygand, by the chief rabbi of Syria. In reply General Weygand stated that officials are appointed on merit without discrimination of race or religion.
