Publishers Farid and Messolonghitis of the Venizelist newspaper Eleutheros Typos today were sentenced to serve four months in jail for having printed anti-Jewish articles. They were accused of having published material calculated to incite the population against the Jews and to endanger the peace of the city.
Farid also was accused of having been responsible for the campaign of anti-Jewish agitation in June, 1931, which led to serious riots in Salonica and to the burning of the Jewish quarter by anti-Semitic bands.
