One hundred and twenty East European and German Jews arrested here today in a series of raids carried out by police are in danger of being deported to the countries of their origin.
Police raided all streets and many homes in the Jewish quarter while searching for persons illegally in the country. Many of those arrested have their families with them.
Belgian authorities have shown unfriendliness to German Jewish refugees in recent months. Hundreds have been arrested for being without residence permits and also for working at gainful occupations. Even those who were able to show they had means sufficient to support themselves for months were arrested and deported.
