The home must be re-established as the cultural center of society before the American nation can again tread the road of progress, Mrs. Mary G. Schonberg, executive secretary of the National Council of Jewish Women, declared last night in a talk broadcast over Station WMCA by the Federal Housing Administration.

“You cannot expect people who dwell in dark, sunless tenements in congested areas of rundown dwellings in the outlying districts, who suffer from economic insecurity and the daily fear of loss of work, to be interested in the cultural, religious or artistic aspects of life,” she said.
