Manne Bros. Live Poultry Corporation had a separate contract with the rabbis, which was broken because of Kashruth Association pressure, the complaint alleges.
In the affidavit submitted by the rabbis it is claimed that on November 12 the poultry concerns signed a two-year contract with the rabbis for kashruth supervision for which they were to receive a sum of $50 weekly.
The complaint charges that while the negotiations were going on and to prevent their execution the Kashruth Association “did carry on a campaign of defamation, calumny and vilifications of the plaintiffs and the poultry corporations,” in the newspapers and public forums.
It is further charged that the Kashruth Association and the Schochtim Union “conspired together” and entered into a contract which provides for the exclusive supervision by the Kashruth Association and that members of the union would work only in markets which are under the association’s supervision.
Finally, the affidavit charges the association and the union with persuading the poultry markets with breaking their agreement.
