Professor Max Liebermann, 87, dean of Germany’s impressionist painters, is recovering from a serious illness. The health of the aged artist is considerably improved, it was reported today.

Professor Liebermann, considered the outstanding German artist of his generation, was ousted by the Nazis from his post as president of the Prussian Academy of Art and his works were prohibited in Germany.

Recent works of the artist are now being exhibited in London under the auspices of a group of British notables.
