Sir Oswald Mosley, leader of the black shirt Fascists, who has grown rabidly anti-Semitic in recent months, today declined an invitation extended him by the Anglo-Palestine Club to debate publicly with some Jewish notable the British Fascist attitude towards British Jews.
He stated he would agree to such a debate only if it was dedicated to the general problem of Fascism; Sir Herbert Samuel, leader of the Liberals and first High Commissioner in Palestine, must be his opponent, and the Jewish question must occupy a proportionate time in the debate analogous to the proportion of Jews in the general population.
Sir Oswald, in recent speeches delivered in Manchester and in Olympia Hall in London, openly adopted anti-Semitism, making vehement anti-Jewish speeches and using the well-worn Nazi phrases. The Black Shirt, organ of the group, also has adopted a virulent anti-Semitic tone.
