All except Adler also received special commendation last week. Although their letters were not of prize-winning calibre, they stood out among the great number of college entries.
Because of the unprecedented amount of scholastic entries in the Seventh Biggest News of the Week contest, the judges have decided to increase the number of honorable mentions this week. The following received special mention: Lester Seligman, Tuley High School, Chicago; B. Bernstein, Seward Park; L. Benisen, Benjamin Franklin; A. Dornfest, Morris High; A. Rubin, Hebrew Parochial; I. Zeichmer, James Monroe; N. Miller, De Witt Clinton; A. Sanders, Madison; and Mason Abrams, Townsend Harris. All except Abrams have been previous prize winners.
THREE NEW WINNERS
Today’s scholastic list contains three new winners. Paul Oblas of Textile Evening High School was not mentioned last week in the special award listings. His letter received special commendation from the judges.
Because of lack of space the standing of the schools in the race for the News Trophy will not be published until Monday.
