Funeral services will be held today for Z. Levine, Yiddish short story writer and compositor on the Forward, who died suddenly of a heart attack late Tuesday afternoon. He was fifty-eight years old.

Born in Lithuania, Mr. Levine came to the United States as a young man. He worked at various occupations and began to publish short stories and sketches in the Forward.

In 1918 he won the prize offered by the Peretz Verein for the best short story submitted by a member. Mr. Levine was known for his realism, for his sharp powers of observation and for his complete knowledge of New York Jewish life.
