Sir Phillip Cunliffe-Lister, the Colonial Secretary, informed the House of Commons today that no further loans to the Palestine government are contemplated.
“The last year’s loan of $10,000,000 has been approved but has not as yet been issued,” the Colonial Minister declared.
Colonel Josiah Wedgwood asked whether the intended issue of this loan is advisable in view of the surplus which the Palestine government enjoys. The Colonial Secretary replied that since the House of Commons has approved the loan, it will definitely be issued.
Replying to an inquiry made with regard to an amendment in the Citizenship Law in Palestine, the Colonial Secretary explained that the amendment does not deprive British citizens of their right to be tried before a British judge in Palestine,
