The fate of German Jewry will be handed over exclusively into the hands of Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Minister of Propaganda, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned here today.
“Busy with the restoration of the German army, Hitler and General Goering decided to leave the campaign against the Jews in the capable mouth of Dr. Goebbels,” it was stated today in authorative sources.
JEWISH EDITOR SEIZED
Dr. Fritz Neulaender, the editor of the official organ of the Jewish community of Cologne, was arrested today and his paper, the Juedische Gemeindeblatt, was suspended for three months. The authorities explained that their action is based on an article published in the Gemeindeblatt, allegedly offending a Nazi paper. The Nazi paper referred to is the Westdeutscher Beobachter, Hitler’s mouthpiece in western Germany.
The Voelkische Beobachter, the chief organ of the Nazi party, announced today that on April 11 a case will come up in the courts of Cairo, Egypt, brought by the Jews against the local Nazis for defaming Jewry. The suit is brought by the Jewish attorney, Leon Castro, of Cairo, representing the World League for Combatting Anti-Semitism. The defendant is the president of the German club in Cairo, who is charged with publishing defamatory statements against the Jews in a pamphlet issued by the Club.
The lower courts in Cairo had refused to recognize the rights of an individual Jew to bring action against the German club. Mr. Castro thereupon lodged an appeal with a higher court. The German club will be represented by Professor Grimm of Hesse, who will proceed to Egypt for this purpose, the Voelkische Beobachter, states.
