Isaac Parshelsky, building supply dealer and a member of the board of directors of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities for more than twenty years, died yesterday afternoon at Long Island College Hospital where he underwent an operation on Saturday. He was 59 years old.
Mr. Parshelsky was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Joshua and Theresa Parshelsky, but spent most of his life in Brooklyn. He was active in the affairs of the Brooklyn Hebrew Home and Hospital for the Aged; vice-president of the Industrial Home for the Blind; one of the founders of the School for Biblical Instruction; a member of the board of directors of the Brooklyn Hebrew Orphan Asylum and was also the founder of the Parshelsky Scholarship of Union College in Schenectady which, under its terms, is awarded to one Jew, one Catholic and one Protestant every year.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at the Brooklyn Hebrew Home and Hospital for the Aged, 813 Howard avenue, Brooklyn. Burial will take place at Acacia Cemetery, Woodhaven, L. I.
Mr. Parshelsky is survived by two brothers, Moses L. and Abraham.
Statements of condolence have been issued by Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president, and Assistant District Attorney Ralph K. Jacobs, secretary, of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities.
FUNERAL RITES TODAY FOR JENNIE BIDERMAN
Jennie (Sheindi) Biderman, wife of I. W. Biderman, well-known Yiddish writer and book dealer, died at Israel Zion Hospital Sunday evening, following an operation for a tumor, it was learned yesterday.
Mrs. Biderman was 39 years old. She was born in Dorochoi, Rumania, and came to America in 1907. Funeral services will be held at the hospital at noon today.
