With the remittance of $500 the Women’s American ORT has fulfilled its quota of $5,000 with which to obtain craftsmen’s certificates for about 600 Jewish artisans in Poland, it was announced yesterday by Mrs. Florence R. Dolowitz, president.

The campaign for $5,000 was the result of a recent decree by the Polish government requiring artisans who did not possess certificates of qualification to obtain them by April 1. The fee for the certificates is 42 zloty ($8.50) each. As a result of this decree 20,000 Jewish artisans were threatened with the loss of the right to continue at their trades.

Mrs. Dolowitz announced yesterday that the Women’s American ORT will not halt its efforts on be-half of these Jewish artisans with the completion of the quota but will shortly remit another substantial sum to enable additional artisans to obtain the required certificates.
