The High Commissioner has decided to set up a committee to inquire into and report on the conditions of service and pay of employes in daily wage grades, whether paid on a monthly or a daily basis, in the technical departments of the government, taking into consideration among other things any rise in house rents.
The committee will be under the chairmanship of the District Commissioner for Jerusalem. The director of medical services and the deputy treasurer will be the members.
The committee will start its work at Haifa. The High Commissioner hopes that it will be possible to make decisions resulting from its recommendations within a month.
This is the third move taken by the High Commissioner within one week in the interest of laborers. On Sunday last, a communique was published announcing his intention to appoint a committee to examine conditions of service and pay of certain classes of employes at Haifa.
