Melchett Cup Goes to Austria for Winning World Maccabiad

The Lord Melchett Cup, symbol of victory in the second World Maccabiad games, went to Austria today. The Austrian team amassed 380½ points in the games in which 1,200 athletes from twenty-seven countries participated.

The American team of sixteen on Monday was awarded the Manischewitz trophy for winning the championship in the track and field games.

Following Austria in the point score for the entire games, which included the swimming events at Haifa, were Germany, the United States, Palestine and Poland in the order listed.

Miss Sara Freiwald of Poland was the winner of the Tel Aviv Municipality Cup, token of individual championship.
