The anti-Jewish drive in Germany received new impetus today when hideous anti-Semitic placards were suddenly posted all over the city of Munich.
It is believed here that the posters appeared under the direct influence of Julius Streicher, the notorious anti-Semitic Nazi leader who has made Jew-baiting his specialty.
“Jews are as necessary in all lands as are rats in a granary,” one of the posters reads, carrying a large caricature of a Jew.
Other posters displayed call upon the population “to fight against the Jews,” declaring that whoever does not fight the Jews is not a true German.
FUTURE BLEAK FOR GRADUATES
A feeling of despair was expressed today by Jewish leaders in Berlin in connection with the winter school term which ends next week. About 6,000 Jewish pupils will be leaving the schools when the term ends the week of Passover, and there is no hope whatsoever of their finding employment.
Ordered by the government not to train the Jewish youth for any vocation unless they intend to emigrate, the Jewish organizations here are faced with the difficulty of training those of the 6,000 Jewish children who are to be graduated, to adjust themselves to the present life in Germany. On the other hand, there are not sufficient means now at the disposal of German Jews to organize the emigration of these Jewish graduates.
A number of Nazi papers came out here this week with a suggestion that for the next school terms separate schools be established for Jews, so that they do not mix with the “Aryan” children. This suggestion would also be welcomed by Jews, since the Jewish children in the German schools are now subjected to great humiliation in the classrooms where Nazi teachers address them insultingly and all kinds of anti-Jewish propaganda is conducted.
