A wealth of foreign reading matter in the New York Public Library, notably-in the Jewish and Slavonic divisions, is being made available after many years’ absence from the shelves, states a report by the library project of the Works Division to Oswald W. Knauth, executive director of the Emergency Relief Bureau.
Ever since the project was started a year ago, the report continues, trained librarians, bibliographers, music copyists, research workers and linguists, as well as other professional people on work relief, have been busy mending or otherwise preparing these books.
Under the direction of the Jewish Historical Society white collar workers are compiling a bibliography of the literature relating to Jewish characters in the drama. Yiddish and Hebrew newspapers are being collated to facilitate this work.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
