Impressive ceremonies at the grave of Maimonides, the Jewish physician and philosopher, marked yesterday the second day of the celebration of the Maimonides octocentennial in Palestine.

Thousands of Jews from all over Palestine flocked here to witness the ceremonies at the grave of the Jewish sage who was born 800 years ago in Cordoba, Spain. The grave of the Rambam is also being visited by many scientists from all over the world interested in collecting direct data on the philosopher’s life.

A procession this afternoon was led by Nahum Sokolow, president of the World Zionist Organization. Representatives of all Jewish communities in Palestine as well as of the Jewish National Council and other central Jewish institutions participated in the parade. At the tomb Dr. Sokolow read from a scroll devoted specially to Maimonides.

The festivities were somewhat marred when Arab boy scouts camped near the Maimonides grave.
