Rights of Minorities in Greece to Be Secured by Special Body

A decision to establish a special department for national minorities in the Greek government was adopted today at a session of the Greek cabinet.

The functions of the new department will be to ensure proper observance of the obligations towards national minorities in this country under the existing international treaties.

Two Jewish candidates will figure in the government list for the parliamentary elections to be held here May 19, it was announced today in the press. The announcement has provoked dissatisfaction among numerous Jewish groups since the Jews are entitled to five seats in the Parliament.
