Z. B. Komaiko, prominent communal worker and director of publicity for the Food Administration of Illinois during the World War, will be decorated with the Cross of the Grand Duke Gediminas, issued by Lithuania as a token of appreciation for his services to his native land, at a banquet May 1, it was learned here today.
Anton Kalvaitis, Lithuanian consul-general here, informed Komaiko that the latter has been selected for the award. At the close of the war Komaika helped the new republic with its boundary problems. In 1923 he visited Lithuania and discussed minority rights with the then President.
Komaiko was one of the early Zionist leaders in this city. He formerly served as local chairman for the American Jewish Congress. Last year he served two terms as president of Ramah Lodge, B’nai B’rith.
