The Palestine police today continued its investigations into the murder of the 30-year-old Kalman Shapiro, son of a rabbi, who was slain in Jerusalem Friday night under the same circumstances as Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, the Zionist leader and member of the Executive of the Jewish Agency who was killed two years ago.

Shapiro was assassinated by two Arabs while walking with his aunt, who is 40 years old, in the all-Jewish quarter, Kerem Avraam, about midnight. He was escorting his aunt home. On the way two Arabs suddenly appeared in the dark and made an effort to attack the woman. When Shapiro started to defend her the Arabs turned on him and knifed him to death. The murderers disappeared before help arrived.

Police authorities, arriving later at the scene of the murder with police dogs, trailed the suspects to Lifta, a neighboring Arab settlement. Two Arabs were arrested under suspicion, but it has not been established whether they are the actual murderers.

The victim was an instructor of the National Labor Organization, the labor organization of the Zionist Revisionists in Palestine.

The murder has attracted wide attention throughout the country. This is the fourth case of Arabs attacking Jews in different parts of Palestine during the last week.
