“The colonization of Jewish workers from foreign countries will be carried out in Biro-Bidjan independent of whether Jewish relief organizations from abroad will participate in the project.”
This statement was made here today by Prof. Joseph Liberberg, President of the Soviet District of Biro-Bidjan, in an interview with a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Prof. Liberberg, who arrived here for a short stay, declared that the question of participation of foreign Jewish organizations in the work of settling foreign Jews in Biro-Bidjan is now under consideration by the appropriate government bodies.
TO BROADEN ENTRY LATER
Emphasizing that the Soviet Government will first admit into Biro-Bidjan those Jews who reside in countries neighboring Soviet Russia, Prof. Liberberg declared that the immigration of Jews from other lands will be permitted later.
“Some individual exceptions are being made even now in the selection of immigrants,” Prof. Liberberg said.
