An unprecedented action was taken today by Premier Tsaldaris in formally thanking the Jewish population of Greece for its patriotism and for its desire to avert a split in next week’s parliamentary election.
In his statement, the Greek Premier commends the Zionist leader Sciaky for withdrawing from the election list which the party opposing the present government has put forward.
Sciaky’s withdrawal from the anti-government slate came as a result of pressure by other Jewish leaders in Greece who objected to the fact that he was lending his support to the forces opposing the present Cabinet.
