The first Dental Institute in Palestine will be established in Jerusalem, it was announced today by the Palestine Association of Dentists.
The Institute will be built on Mt. Scopus, near the Hebrew University. Land for the clinic will be assigned by the Jewish National Fund. An internationally known professor from Vienna, whose name has not been disclosed, will be the director
The main purpose of the Institute is to help dentists become more accomplished in their profession. A campaign will be started among Jewish dentists in Palestine and abroad in order to raise a fund of $50,000 for establishment of the Institute.
Of the 7,600 immigration certificates received by the Jewish Agency from the Palestine government for the next six months, 4,283 have been assigned for “chalutzim” and unskilled laborers, Isaac Gruenbaum, member of the Jewish Agency Executive and head of the Immigration Department, announced at a press conference yesterday.
Of the remainder, 917 were assigned for skilled workers and 600 for workers whose applications were made by individual Palestine industrialists. A total of 1,750 certificates was assigned for relatives of Palestine residents. Mr. Gruenbaum disclosed that no less than 15,000 applications of Palestine citizens for their relatives have piled up in the offices of the Jewish Agency since 1933.
