The Palestine government yesterday notified the Jewish State Party that it does not see its way clear to registering it as one of the legally existing political parties in the country.
“Unless the Jewish State Party eliminates from its platform the demands for a Jewish majority in Palestine as a Jewish state on the basis of its historic boundaries, the Jewish State Party could not be registered by the Palestine administration,” the notification of the government stated.
A convention of the Jewish State Party in Palestine which was supposed to have taken place in connection with the forthcoming World Zionist Congress was prohibited by the Palestine authorities on the pretext that the party was not registered with the government.
The formalities for a registration for the Jewish State Party were completed a year ago. The reply received today from the government provoked great surprise not only among the adherents of the Jewish State Party but also among the entire Jewish population.
