Branding the Nazis as liars and accusing them of malicious libel, the Shanghai Municipal Council today issued an official memorandum denying charges published in a Nazi paper that Jews practiced ritual murder in a Jewish cemetery here.
The memorandum, released in the North China Daily News, leading English newspaper, characterizes the anti-Semitic report appearing in the Nazi paper as fantastic slander and strongly condemns the Nazi lies.
The Municipal Council officially stamps the accusation of the Nazis as libelous, and intimates to the Jewish Community in Shanghai that it can make use of the official document to refute the wrongful accusation hurled against them by the Nazis.
Copies of the official report vindicating the honor of the Jews of Shanghai were forwarded to the German consul-general here. No answer has as yet been forthcoming.
