Forecasting a nation-wide registration of all Jews, authorities of Dortmund today ordered a census of Jewish residents of the city. The Executive Board of the Jewish Community was instructed by the authorities to carry out this registration.
Five Jews were today arrested in Karlsruhe for alleged “race defilement” and have been removed to concentration camps, the Gestapo, Nazi secret police, of Kislau reports.
The Schwarzerkorps, organ of Hitler’s personal bodyguard, yesterday warned world Jewry to abstain from boycotting Germany if they care for the well-being of German Jews. It also reminds the Jews of Hitler’s warning that the new laws may be revised, and points out that if the boycott is continued “Jews will not be spared and most drastic measures will be taken against them.”
It is the general feeling among leading Jews here that in view of thse new laws everything must be done to maintain Jewish economic institutions, but simultaneously all efforts must be concentrated for the largest possible emigration of Jews from Germany.
“Aryan” tenants in Berlin, in fear of being marred by contacts with Jews are notifying Jewish landlords that they are moving out of their buildings.
“Aryan” lawyers were yesterday officially notified by the Association of German Jurists that the Association “definitely declines to intervene for any “Aryan” lawyers who are attacked publicly for taking the risk of representing Jews.
The Voelkischer Beobachter reported yesterday that Jacob Fuss, a Jewish landlord, was taken into protective custody for “unsocial relations” consisting of demanding from an “Aryan” tenant that he pay his rent promptly.
The German press today confirms yesterday’s report by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that “basic changes” in the medical laws will soon be promulgated.
A conference of Jewish social workers for relief among Jews in the provinces was today convoked in Berlin. The condition of provincial Jews is described as most desperate. The number of needy Jews is growing daily.
Anti-Jewish demonstrations are increasing throughout the provinces. In Kreuzberg, the Hitler Youth terrorized Jews for several hours by a huge street demonstration.
