Following the intervention of Dr. Ebner, president of the Jewish Community, and Deputy Fischer, the Rumanian Minister of the Interior prohibited the anti-Semitic League of Christian National Defence, headed by Prof. Alexander Cuza, from holding their conference in Czernowitz.

Originally scheduled for September 28 and 29, to coincide with the Jewish New Year, the conference had been postponed for Monday to coincide with Yom Kippur.

Prof. Cuza was to have delivered an address on the results of the recent German Nazi Party Congress in Nuremberg.
