The situation of the Jews remains unaffected by the proclamation of a monarchy in Greece.

Field Marshal George Kondylis, the new Regent, who is also Premier and Minister of Navy, declared today that, “We cannot forget that we are indebted to the Jews for our God.” Premier Kondylis has been known for his pro-Jewish sentiment in the past.

At least one of the cabinet ministers, The Otokis Mandas, has repeatedly expressed appreciation of the Jews’ contributions.

The monarchy was restored in Greece last Thursday after a military coup d#etat which removed President Zaimis from power.
