Palestine will participate in the enforcement of the League of Nations’ economic sanctions against Italy, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was informed today. The government is awaiting definite instructions from London on the manner and extent to which the sanctions are to be carried out.

In 1934 Palestine imported from Italy goods to the value of 2,406,000. Exports to Italy were valued at $83,000 in the same period.

Sanctions by Palestine are expected to hit the Italian shipping industry particularly hard, since both Italian passenger and freight lines have been profiting heavily in recent years as a result of the Palestine boom. Last year a total of 365 Italian ships dropped anchor in Palestine harbors.
