Marie Eiger, 38-year-old daughter of the deceased millionaire industrialist and a Communist leader for the past fifteen years, was sentenced in district court today to a prison term of twelve years. She was charged with conducting Communist activities.
Miss Eiger, who once led a great strike in her father’s factory, will have to serve the full sentence, shortening of the term under the recent Amnesty Act being denied her.
Similar sentences was passed upon Aron Lewartowski and Stefan Wiebelowski. Four other defendants, including a 67-year-old woman, were pardoned under the Amnesty Act. All were arrested last week when police picked up 200 suspects in raids upon Communist organizations.
