Detention by the Gestapo, secret State police, of passports held by Jews is justified” for State and political reasons,” a German court ruled today.

The ruling was handed down in an action brought by a Jewish resident of the city of Hildesheim, whose counsel contended that the police were not entitled to deprive a person of his passport because he is a Jew.
