The semi-official Deutsche Volkswilth predicts that 1936 will be the severest year for the German population since the Nazis came into power giving as one of the reasons the rising barriers in the United States against German goods.
The newspaper bases its predictions on the following:
(1) The continued flight of Jewish capital, which the paper estimated as totalling ten to twelve billion marks.
(2) The obligation assumed by the Reich to permit the Jews in the Saar to withdraw their capital until March 1, expected to result in the flight of 10,000,000 Marks.
(3) The anticipated decrease in exports owing to rising barriers in the United States and the anti-Nazi boycott.
(4) The refusal of foreign countries to grant credit to the Reich.
(5) The urgent need to import foodstuffs and raw materials.
The paper asserted that “the flight of Jewish capital plays an important part in our obligations abroad.”
